The Jefferson Memorial sits along the beautiful Potomac River.
Aunt Chelle and Blythe in the Arlington National Cemetery. Usually people who visit the Arlington Cemetery are required to park and then walk through the grounds of the cemetery but thankfully Mozanne has a handicap tag that we were able to get special permission to drive right up to whichever memorial sight we wanted to. Thank you mom for being handicap just this once. It payed off in Washington. We also got curbside parking for the Smithsonian Museums.

We were able to watch the changing of the guards at the Tomb of the unknown Soldiers. It is a timeless honored ritual that occurs around the clock by the third U.S. Infantry.

We all stood between soldiers at the Air Force Memorial.

This is the home of George Washington. The home is located in Mount Vernon. We road a fairy boat to get to the "little" 8,000 acres. The land is divided into five farms with the Mansion as its centerpiece. Washington's tomb along with his wife Martha. It was so beautiful and an amazing site to see.Michelle and her boyfriend, Richard. We had a wonderful time getting to know them as a couple. They were great tour guides.

David went to an Air Show with Dada and Rich. He got to climb in and out of all kinds of aircraft and see many jets and airplanes to tricks in the sky. He told us they were really loud so he needed to use his ear plugs.
The Washington Memorial and IwoJima. And below is the Lincoln Memorial.

The whole reason for our trip to washington D.C. was to support Michelle graduating from Galludet University with her masters degree in Sign Language and Communication. Congratulations Michelle!!!! We are so proud of all your accomplishments!

The family- Dad, Mom, Mitch, David, Aunt Dava Ray, Aunt Kathy, Michelle, me and Blythe. Dad's wife Beth could not come, neither could Dava's family or aunt Kathy's husband Milton. We had a great time and would not have missed it for anything!!!! We saw so many things in such a short time. The White House, The Nations Capital, Arlington National Cemetery, some of the Smithsonian museums, Jefferson Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Roosevelt Memorial, WWII and Korean War memorials, the great Wall, and the Air Force Memorial. We took a special tour inside the Pentagon complements of Rich, Michelle's boyfriend who works there and was able to get us a tour of the building. No pictures were allowed to be taken inside but we did get to see many neat things and also see where one of the planes hit the building on 9/11. Now there is a little chapel in the building where the plane hit to remember all the lives that were lost either in the building or in the plan on that day! Really emotional!!! We had a wonderful time sight seeing and spending time together as a family! The kids did really well. They slept very well every night because they were so tired! I have a much deeper appreciation for the freedom of our country!
